Australian Open 2009 Finals

  

Roger federer looks emotionally at the trophy that he so wanted.

It was an emotional scene. Federer fighting back tears, while looking for words in his speech. He couldn’t say anything, he could’nt find words, he was fighting, fighting back tears.

As i watched him, i felt for him. I could see how much he wanted this. He needed this so much, it really meant alot to him. This was not only a victory in the Australian Open, a win would have provided him an assurance that he could still be capable of doing his tennis wonders and be able to play high quality tennis.

Fighting back tears, he said, “God, it’s killing me”  

“I love this game, it means the world to me and it hurts when you lose.”

The game he plays on that level takes everything out of a man. It also is one that forces you to stay out there afterwards, even after you lose and it doesn’t allow you immediate privacy to deal with your emotions, after losing a final. I really think so.

It meant so much to him.

That said, Federer will still be the humble, awesome tennis player that i have always come to respect and support.

A Starbucks Fan’s Musings

I’ve to admit, I’m a starbucks fan. I love their drinks (my favourite being their cafe latte). I love hot chocolate too, but i know of better specialised places to enjoy a cup of hot chocolate.

While i’m at starbucks, coffee is the drink. =) As a self-confessed starbucks fan, I simply adore the way the business is run, the setup and ambiance of the store, the way the company gives back to the community through Starbucks™ Shared Planet™ . I did a presentation on Cooperate Social Responsiblity last year (2008) and picked starbucks as my case study model.

The founder ceo is one of the business leaders whom i wanna learn from too. Starbucks was the first company to give its part-time employees/partners (they call their staff partners) full medical benefits coverage and the chance to own “beanstock”, way before its stock officially went for an IPO, it encouraged employees to feel they are part of the team and they too had a share in the company’s success.

Starbucks has made itself into a culture, both cooperate and social. I wanna emulate certain aspects of the model and improve on them.

haha. I’m in need of a starbucks coffee fix now. “Hi! Can i have a tall cafe latte? Ohh… and one of your chocolate muffins too pleasee… can i have it lightly toasted?” =)

A cool invention

The Rolling Bench

I came across this and i was impressed. When a seat is “hot” or wet, we can simply roll it over by cranking the side knob and volla! You’ve got a totally new surface to rest your bums on!

We should have these benches installed in all public places!

Lets lobby the governments.
